Jean Piaget (1896-1980) was a Swiss psychologist who revolutionized developmental psychology by studying how children think differently than adults, developing constructivism and genetic epistemology and identifying key developmental concepts such as object permanence and egocentrism. He established the International Center for Genetic Epistemology, and his theory of cognitive development has influenced fields from education to artificial intelligence.
