Jane Loevinger

Jane Loevinger Weissman was an American developmental psychologist who developed a theory of personality emphasizing the gradual internalization of social rules and the maturing conscience as the origin of personal decisions. In the tradition of developmental stage models, she integrated several frameworks of meaning-making into a model of humans' constructive potentials that she called ego development. She also contributed to measurement theory by introducing the coefficient of test homogeneity and created the Washington University Sentence Completion Test.
